For 35+ years, St. John’s has had the opportunity and joy of sharing one week of every summer with children from Paul’s Place—a community outreach center founded by St. John’s in 1982 in the Washington Village/Pigtown community of Baltimore City. Our goal is to provide campers with an experience in the country that contrasts the usual hustle of Baltimore. Past activities have included stream exploring, field games, arts/crafts, drumming, scavenger hunts, gardening, singing, rock climbing and swimming. Not surprisingly, this is an enriching and fulfilling experience for all who participate, from campers to counselors to volunteers. More than 40 parishioners donate their time to make the summer camp a rousing success for 40 campers, ages 6 – 10. Our camp will run for one week right here at St. John’s on Butler Rd. This is a wonderful opportunity for young women and men in high school to gain experience as camp counselors.
If you would like more information regarding how you can volunteer at our summer camp, please contact Melanie Heacock at firstname.lastname@example.org or (410) 404-1322.
