Daily Devotionals

The Daily Office

From primitive societies, through ancient Judaism and continuing into Christianity, certain times of day were set apart by communities for prayer, scripture reading, songs and meditation. This Christian tradition for both private devotions and public worship has continued in the Episcopal Church through the offerings in the Book of Common Prayer. In several forms, seekers find guidance for daily devotions in Morning and Evening Prayer, prayers throughout the day and Compline, at day’s end.

Revised Common Lectionary

The Revised Common Lectionary is the guide for the Scripture readings for Sunday worship services for churches around the world, including The Episcopal Church in the United States. It is the product of ecumenical scholarship and is designed, like its predecessors, in three-year cycles, to offer to worshipping congregations readings from the Old Testament, Psalms, the New Testament/Epistles and the Gospel that, over the three-year period, cover the basic content and theology of the Bible.
