Book Study: The Life I Could Have

Posted on September 28, 2026

Thursdays, September 24th and October 1st, 8th and 15th. 6:30pm to 8:30pm.

Led by Dr. Polly Bart and the Rev. Thomas Clement

In her recent book, The Life I Could Have: Suicide Prevention through Social Change, Polly Bart, a parishioner at St. John’s, examines the role of social connection and church membership in the prevention of suicide.

In this four-week book study, we will look frankly at the difference between life worth living and life lost, the meaning of community and why it is so important, especially in modern times, and the rewards of church membership. We will lovingly consider our sense of community at St. John’s, what it means, and how we can make it stronger through better understanding and prayerful action.

Each evening will begin at 6:30pm with cheese and dessert, and end with a short prayer service by 8:30pm.

Copies of the book are available from the parish office. A donation of $15 is invited.
