Interfaith Weekend

November 21 to 23, 2025

For many years, St. John’s has enjoyed close ties with neighbors at Har Sinai synagogue in Owings Mills. That relationship has continued since Har Sinai merged with another Baltimore congregation to form Har Sinai-Oheb Shalom Congregation on Park Heights Avenue. Most recently, we’ve worked with Har Sinai-Oheb Shalom on Bunches of Lunches, a project that provides packed lunches to those in need. And we’ve had a series of discussions around the emergence of a new and authoritarian strain of “Christian Nationalism”.

We’ll be marking an Inter-faith Weekend with the invitation to participate in one another’s worship. St. John’s members are invited to attend Har Sinai-Oheb Shalom’s Shabbat service on Friday, November 21, at 6pm (at which Thomas will preach), and also their Torah study on Saturday, November 22nd, at 10am. Har Sinai-Oheb Shalom will then return the visit with Rabbi Sabath and some of their congregation joining us for the service on Sunday, November 23, at 10 am.

The point of this shared worship is not to overlook our differences but to highlight what unites us as we continue to strengthen friendships among congregations.
