McKey Monroe selected to perform in the birthplace of opera

Posted on May 25, 2026

McKey Monroe, our choir’s contralto, has been selected to perform as Zia Principessa in Puccini’s Suor Angelica in Greve, Italy. They write:

Dear friends,
This summer I have been given the incredible opportunity of going to Greve, Italy to be a part of Bel Canto in Tuscany’s summer opera program. I will be performing in Puccini’s Suor Angelica as Zia Principessa. To study and perform this masterpiece in the very birthplace of opera is a dream come true, and a massive step forward in my musical journey. We will be studying Italian, performing in recitals and opera scenes, and getting to make connections with some very renowned directors, coaches, and teachers in the opera world.
While this is an extraordinary honor, the costs of tuition, travel, and lodging in Italy are significant. I am turning to my beloved community to ask for your prayers and, if you are able, your support to help make this journey possible.
Every contribution—no matter the size—brings me one step closer to Tuscany and helps cover:
  • Program tuition and masterclass coaching
  • Roundtrip airfare and travel expenses
  • Lodging and meals during the production
If you feel led to support my journey, you can contribute in the following ways:
Whether through a financial gift or keeping me in your prayers as I travel and perform, your support means the world to me. I look forward to sharing the music, stories, and blessings of this experience with St. John’s when I return!
With deepest gratitude and blessings,
McKey Monroe

Congratulations, McKey!
