Lent Series: Jesus and the Disinherited by Howard Thurman

Wednesdays 21st February – 20th March at 5:30pm in the Parish Hall.

As well as being a time of fasting and repentance, Lent is a traditionally a time when Christians focus on renewing and deepening their relationship with God through to prayer and study. Our Lent series is an opportunity to do just that. We meet at 5:30pm to share a simple meal before giving some time to group discussion, followed by worship. We end at 7:30pm.

This year, we will be reading Howard Thurman’s short volume Jesus and the Disinherited. A great inspiration to Martin Luther King Jr., this is a book that helped shape the civil rights movement and the nation’s history. In it, Thurman provides an interpretation of the life and ministry of Jesus that demands honesty about the failings of our society, but which also seeks to reach past anger and distrust toward a vision of unity.

Childcare is provided.
